Roast & Rice Asian Fusion is a cozy spot in Westlake Village that draws a steady local crowd looking for a varied Asian menu that leans into both familiar comforts and thoughtful fusion twists. Located on Russell Ranch Road, it fits well into the suburban rhythm where families, couples, and groups of friends come to enjoy a relaxed yet lively restaurant atmosphere without the formality of a white-tablecloth place.

The interior strikes a balance between casual and inviting, with enough warmth from its décor and friendly staff to feel welcoming whether you’re settling in for a quiet solo lunch or gathering for a casual dinner. It’s the kind of spot where you’ll overhear a mix of regulars chatting about their favorite dishes alongside newcomers diving into the menu for the first time.

The menu itself offers a broad selection of Asian-inspired dishes, covering Thai, Vietnamese, and Japanese influences with a fusion approach that encourages sharing and sampling. Standouts often mentioned include the Orange Chicken for its familiar sweetness, the Pad See You for lovers of stir-fried noodles, and more adventurous picks like the Avocado Green Curry or the Spicy Basil Fried Rice. The sushi rolls, particularly the crunchy spicy tuna, add a fresh, light counterpoint to the heartier rice and curry dishes.

Lunch or dinner here tends to attract a mixed local crowd — from office groups grabbing flavorful, slightly upscale takeout to families seeking comfort dishes with a bit of flair. The presence of unique beverages like Thai tea and even large hot sake bottles nods to the restaurant's blend of Asian dining traditions, making it a good spot for both casual meals and low-key celebratory nights.

If timing matters, you’ll find this place busiest around early evening when locals come off work and on weekends when groups stretch out over multiple plates. The service pace generally suits a relaxed meal rather than a quick bite, making it ideal for those who want to linger over food with friends or family.

Overall, Roast & Rice offers a genuine casual dining experience for those seeking variety in Asian flavors without stepping far from the familiar. It’s a place where the quality of ingredients and thoughtful cooking combine to keep diners coming back, especially if you enjoy exploring different dishes across the Asian culinary spectrum in one setting.

This place is so legit. All of our dishes were out of this world yum. We had crispy tuna cut roll, spam musubi, chicken pho, chicken larb, and the Mongolian beef noodles. You have to come and try this place. We're definitely coming back.

This restaurant is amazing!! They have an incredible variety of foods and every single thing we ordered was phenomenal! The service was also wonderful! Between us we had shrimp fried rice, wonton soup, cucumber salad, miso soup and even sushi. All dishes were very tasty & authentic. The sushi was delicious - a good combo of flavors and great quality fish! In my opinion the sushi was on par with the Landing on the Lake. On top of this, they were knowledgeable and very careful in regard to allergens! I have Celiac, so I have terrible reactions if I accidentally eat wheat/gluten. They went above and beyond and actually made me a gluten free ponzu sauce to go with the roll I ordered! They even told me they can make me fried rice gluten free! Also, my step mom has a serious shellfish allergy and they made sure to be very careful in regard to this as well. Try this restaurant if you haven't. You will definitely find something you like! We will certainly be back! P.S. The food display was also wonderful, so please forgive the photo... I got overly excited and ate a few pieces of the roll before I remembered to take a pic. :-)

Did a quick search for a restaurant in the area and this came up so I decided to try it out. Solid Asian fusion restaurant. I started with a Thai tea latte iced with boba and that was pleasantly delicious. The spam musubi was on point but I should of got “easy rice” and was hoping it was at least two pieces. The calamari was also delicious and the sauce was great. The crispy hainam chicken is one of the best I’ve had. The garlic rice wasn’t too garlicky but it complimented the tender/juicy/crispy chicken pieces. The miso soup was also good and I added the leftover rice to it for a little finishing dish. I’d definitely come back again and try some of their other food offerings.

The overall dining experience was great! Walking in, I was greeted by the waiting staff and a cozy atmosphere from the decorations. I had the roast duck with rice and it was made well. It was cut in a way where there would be no bones. Back in NC, I would get a whole roast duck for special occasions and the taste and texture brought back some memories. I do understand it’s an acquired taste, but it never hurts to try once (unless you’re allergic). I do sometimes wonder if I’m able to buy the whole duck. It also came with a small bowl of soup and sauce for the roasted duck. For specialty dishes like this and the economic pressure on prices, it was fairly priced, especially if you’re just eating out with friends once every 1-2 months.

We came here to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. The food was terrific--very flavorful. My wife ordered the panang curry with tofu, and she loved it. I tried it too, and it was very well balanced and not too sweet! I ordered the Kung Pao tofu, and it was otherworldly. You can tell the dish was made over extremely high heat because the vegetables were seared, yet tender crisp, and the flavors were really, really vivid. My 8-year old son had the garlic noodles with broccoli. He loved them and cleaned his plate. We also ordered a vegetable roll, which was terrific, as well as ice cream for dessert. Everything was top notch, and we would definitely do it again. I highly recommend this place for any occasion.

Really cool find in Thousand Oaks. I liked the idea of trying some Asian fusion dishes. I tried the Thai Mein which had some really good flavors. My wife tried the sushi which seemed on par to other good sushi restaurants. Our servers were really kind and attentive. There is a nice outside patio with heat Ed and really cool indoor seating if you prefer that. I could definitely see myself coming back to this restaurant. If you are in the area give it a try!

6/14/2025 Had a wonderful dinner tonight at Roast & Rice. Honda, Puchung and Apple were our wonderful servers. What a terrific place. We started with soup and drinks. My wife had the tofu soup and I had the dumpling soup. Both were excellent. The hibiscus ice tea was fantastic. We ordered several entree dishes and took plenty home for lunch tomorrow. We had the fried rice, orange chicken, beef & broccoli and a wide noodle dish. The food, service and ambiance was excellent. Highly recommended. Previous visit Stopped by for dinner at Roast & Rice. Maria, our server was very nice, professional, and attentive. We ordered the "OH My God Sushi Roll", orange chicken, Mongolian beef, and steamed rice. The food was hot and tasty. The ambiance was peaceful and serene. Maria was a bright star in this establishment, and we appreciated her insight and recommendations.
